The sisterhood

"Best friends are the siblings God forgot to give us." This quote perfectly describes the relationship that my friends and I share. I have had the same best friends since August 25,1996, which of course was the first day of Kindergarden. It is common for people to gave one or two friends that the consider family, but I am blessed to have four sisterhood friends. Just as if they were my real sisters, we have been through basically everything together. We argue as if we were related. In Elementary school we would so everything with each other; from playing with Barbie's to having bubble-blowing competitions. Middle school with these girls was a little rough. This was the time where we were starting puberty, which caused us to be extremely catty. We would make fun of each other, talk about each other, stab one another in the back and so on. However, our bond that we share survived through these three bumpy years of hell. Freshman year of high school was when things started to change. One of the members from our sisterhood jumped into a serious relationship with a boy. This was hard on all of us because we were all used to being attached at the hip at all times. Once Heather was able to balance time between us and her boyfriend, the arguing and tension eased. Sophomore year we suffered a tragedy together. One of our friends from middle school, Kristin Dessingue, died in a drunk driving accident. This was an absolute terrible time in our lives. But with each other's comfort and help, we made it through the tough time. This incident also made us realize how important our friendship really is. Summer of 2008 was also an extremely rough time for the five of us. This was the time where we had to leave each other's side and go off to college. Being with one another every single day to only seeing each other once every three months was very hard to get used to. Again, we are getting through it and still are now closer than ever. From playing with dolls at age six, fighting over boys, to loosing a loved one, the bond that my girls and me share is amazing. My life would not be complete with out my sisters.
