Obama is our Moses

I wouldn't say that I am super religious but I would say that God and I have a bond that is unbroken, unwavering, and incredible. I cannot quote the bible, but I bet I can pinpoint how it felt when Moses came. It's a feeling of relieve and hope. Hope for our future, hope for our children's future, and their children, and so on. For the first time EVER we have a Black President. Whether you are an Obama supporter or not I think you would agree that this is a huge feat for our country. I mean honestly look back at our history and try to predict this happening. If you were James "Little Man" Presley this would be unthinkable

James Presley is the grandson of a slave and has been working on the same cotton fields since he was 6 years old. He is 78. This man grew up in poverty, with almost no rights as a child. He grew up in a time when black and whites were still segregated. "Blacks were segregated from whites. They couldn't go to the same schools. They had separate water fountains. Blacks couldn't go in the front doors of businesses. And just about everywhere you went, he says, racism was rampant."  During his childhood if you had asked him about a black man becoming president I’m sure he wouldn’t know what to say. Obama becoming president means so much to our country and the people that have built it up to be what it is today.

Other countries knew the United States of America as the land of opportunity. She really lives up to her name now. “For the first time ever, he says, black parents and grandparents can tell youngsters in rural America that through education, anything I possible-that the White House isn’t just for white folks.”

I believe that with the inauguration of the first black president there will come a change in our country. In the morale of the poverty stricken we will see a vast improvement. This is a good thing. NO it is a great thing. Barack Obama is changing America and the history books will never be the same. Now instead of them reading, “Blacks continue to struggle for equality”, they can say “Our President is Black!!”

  1. I also believe that the election of a President that is even partially black is a huge step. I do not feel however that this step is as grand as people make it out to be. Now on a semi-unrelated but still related topic I was watching South Park on one of the very few nights I ever watch television and the episode was when Chef wanted to change the South Park flag and they town was going to go by the decision of a debate held by the kids at the school. Now to those that have never seen this episdode the original South Park flag is basically a yellow back drop with a black person being hung and white people standing around observing it and of course Chef being black took this offensively and demanded a change. During the debate at the school the girls mainly favored in the changing of the flag and most of the guys favored it staying the same. In the debate the important reltion to my point is that the guys viewed the flag solely as a piece of history and they did not partically notice that there was a black guy being hung and watched by white people but merely just a person getting hung. In other words they did not label the person pertaining to color. Basically what I am trying to get at is that this is a monumental change for our nation, and immensely great change but ideally I would prefer the day when the color of a person is not even noticed because I have experienced too many times the painful noticing of a skin color can make. Historical may this moment be I hope that one day Obama will be known as a great man, a great President and in the side notes it will say this great man also accomplished a break through for many as he was the first Black President.

  2. Bolton! that was a moving comment. except the south park part..lol it reminds me of the meet the jeffersons one so it threw me on a day dream away from the topic..ha. but such a good point it is that you make. The speech he gave was incredible and the fact that he is black has nothing to do with it. im glad you brought this to my attention and i appreciate it.
