My family
In my life I am part of many communities. I am part of our community here at FSU, a part of my friends’ community, and many others. But the most significant community that I am a part of is my family. I am one of two children in our family of four. Well we have a dog who we consider to be a member of the family so five. My dad and his side of the family are much more talkative, energetic, and affectionate than my mom’s side. They are always active and joyful. Not to say that my mom’s side isn’t happy or anything like that, but they don’t always show it the way that my dad’s family does. I have two uncles and two aunts on my dad’s side, and two aunts and two uncles on my mom’s side. All of my aunts and uncles are great people. Granted, there are some of them who are a little stranger than others, but all in all they are good people. I am lucky enough to still have all of my grandparents alive. My dad’s parents act much younger than they are. My mom’s parents aren’t quite that hyper active, but that is because my grandmother has Alzheimer’s disease. It’s a shame because I can’t really remember what she was like before her case progressed, but I’m told that she was an amazing woman. In all I have eight cousins who I try to keep in touch with. That’s one of the roles I have in my family, cousin. Since I am the oldest of all they all look up to me. Some are much younger than me and some are only a couple years younger, but I think they all look up to me. Unfortunately, I am closer to some of my cousins more than others; and I can relate to some more than others. Each member of a family has many roles. Some more of my roles are son, nephew, and grandson. I may not be perfect but I try to be the best that I can.
