Interviews
When I got finished with my interview for my research paper I found that the person whom I interviewed shared many of the same opinions that I myself had. I do realize, however, that this does not indicate how all people feel about Family Guy, but some people do. In my interviews I found that overall the show was not found to be that offensive at all. The people that I interviewed all really liked the way that Family Guy takes things that are going on in the world and makes jokes out of them. I like how the show does that as well. One of the people that I interviewed brought up an interesting point. I had always considered Family Guy to be similar to the Simpsons in the respect that the jokes are similar, but he said that he felt that Family Guy was original. Then I asked him if he had seen the Simpsons, he said that he had, and that he felt that Family Guy was not like the Simpsons. At any rate, the main point of my interviews was to determine if people that liked the show had ever been offended by it. They had not been offended by it. One person said that he felt that some of the Jewish jokes used went a little too far, but overall didn’t bother him that much and he still watches the show today. They also thought that the stereotypes used were humorous and should not be taken with any offense. Overall, the interviews provided some decent help to my research. They provided another element that I had not thought of utilizing before. Too many times I tried to look up information on the internet about how someone felt, when I could just ask someone right here. I plan to back up the main point of my paper and say that the show is a simple cartoon and should be taken as such. Even someone that was a little offended by the show still watches it and enjoys it to this day.
