After the interview..
For these interviews, the people I interviewed were promised that their names and sororities/fraternities would not be mentioned due to the confidentiality and secrecy that these groups are based on. Some of the people I interviewed who decided to be open with me helped me understand the way Greek life is a lot better than I could have known from just bein an outsider. What they told me didn't change my views of Greek life but it did confirm preconceived ideas. I believe the media is correct to an extent to these Greek letter organizations but they take it too far and give these groups a bad reputation and preception. Everything they told me was striaght forward and if there was any confusion they would explain it to me, like the ceremony of being lavaliered (where the boyfriend, who is in a fraternity, of one of the sisters, gives her his letters usually as a necklace to wear as a sign of commitment). I used my interviews as one of the main sources for my paper because most of the books I read were all people who were all non-Greeks but I wanted to get the truth from the people who had actually gone through it and experienced the secrets that us non-Greeks haven't. Mostly, I just used quotes from the people I interviewed. The stuff I found out was really interesting though and I actually really enjoyed writin this paper.

The media does fabricate different things and it makes it hard to see the reality of something by just seeing it through the media. The interview process does really help to see an insider’s view or take on something through their experiences and stories. It helps to base you ideas on someone who has actually experienced it instead of just believing everything the media says because the media very often stereotypes things and makes them seem way different than they actually are. Your interview on sororities and fraternities I imagine was very interesting because Greek Life contains so many different stereotypes and it is hard for outsiders to know what is reality and what is made up from outsider’s and media’s opinion.
